Outline
1. Introduction: Introduce a relevant
topic, acknowledging how it is debatable. Provide some background information
to clarify. What is the issue? Who cares? Then state your opinion on the topic
and why you feel this way.
2. Body paragraph: support your argument
with three claims, one for each of the Aristotelian devices: logos, ethos and
pathos. (you will need to have read two articles. Make sure to quote and
acknowledge your sources: According to ….. As well, you need to create a works
cited. Use citation machine at the conclusion of your essay.)
3. Counterclaim paragraph addressing the
opposing view. What do they say about the topic? What are their facts? Why is
this claim weak or false?
4. Conclusion: Review the central points
of your argument. Stress the importance of your opinion. Finish with universal statement
that will resonate for everyone to take your side: a call to action.
