1.      What reason does the gentleman give to the queen to explain Ophelia’s behavior? Weave in text into a complete sentence that includes your own words based upon (4.5.1-5).



2.      What is King Claudius’ perception concerning Ophelia’s bawdy singing? Weave in text within your own words to form a complete sentence. Use material based upon  (4.5.75-76)




3.      Laertes assumes that King Claudius is to blame for his father Polonius’ death, and he wants revenge. (Note the parallel with Hamlet.) What words does Claudius use to both calm and manipulate Laertes?  This will require either a complex sentence or two shorter ones. Weave in the text you’re your own words. (Are you comfortable with semicolons? Use material based upon (4.147-153)






4.      Paraphrase Laertes response when he sees Ophelia. How does Laertes respond when he sees Ophelia? (4.5.168-9)





5. What promise to Laertes does King Claudius give concerning his father’s death? Weave in text based upon these lines and then paraphrase, using the expression in other words.  (TEXT 4.5.215-17.)
